What Is Hope in Every Dollar?
If you’re here for the first time, pull up a chair.
I want to start our very first Kitchen Table Conversation by telling you a little about why Hope in Every Dollar exists and what I hope you’ll find here.
Years ago, during some of my own financial struggles, I developed a simple, practical way of budgeting because I needed something that would help me make sense of the money I had.
I needed to know what had to be paid, when it had to be paid, and how I was going to make what I had stretch from one payday to the next.
What started as a way to manage my money taught me something much bigger.
It taught me the importance of making intentional decisions one step at a time.
And over the years, those decisions became habits.
As time went on, I began to recognize that some of the same principles I was using with my finances were showing up in other areas of my life. They helped me navigate difficult seasons, adjust when things didn’t go according to plan, and keep moving forward through some of the hardest moments of my life.
That’s part of what Hope in Every Dollar means to me today.
Those experiences eventually became the foundation for my book, Hope in Every Dollar: A Simple Practical Guide to Budgeting, Building Confidence, and Finding Hope.
But I also knew I didn’t want the conversation to end with the last page of a book.
That’s part of why I created these Kitchen Table Conversations.
Hope in Every Dollar is about helping everyday people move from financial stress toward greater clarity, confidence, and peace through simple, practical habits.
I believe you don’t have to wait until you’re making more money before you can begin making better financial decisions.
You can start with what you have.
Sometimes the first step is simply becoming aware of what’s happening with your money.
Because I’ve learned that awareness can lead to better decisions.
Better decisions can become better habits.
Better habits can create lasting change.
And lasting change can bring a greater sense of peace.
That’s the philosophy behind what we’re building here.
These Kitchen Table Conversations won’t be about pretending that managing money is always easy or that one budgeting method can make every financial problem disappear.
They’ll be about real life.
We’ll talk about budgeting, intentional decisions, habits, financial setbacks, starting again when life happens, and some of the lessons I’ve learned through my own experiences.
And just like a real kitchen table, I don’t want this to become a place where only one person does all the talking.
I want to hear from you, too.
Your experiences matter. Your questions matter. And sometimes something you’ve learned along the way may be exactly what another person sitting at this table needs to hear.
I’m grateful for what these principles have done in my own life.
That’s why I decided to share them.
So wherever you are financially right now, you don’t have to have everything figured out before you sit down with us.
Come as you are.
We’ll start where we are, use what we have, and take the next intentional step from there.
Welcome to the Kitchen Table.
